Video
Production
So
you've decided to make a video.
You think you have talent, or you need
to sell a product, or you need to
teach clients how to do something, or
you need to film a commercial or a
trade show presentation. Problem
is, now that you've made the big
decision, you're not exactly sure
what's the next step.
Zitech
Logic Video Production.
Zitech
Logic Video Production is the next
step. We will take your video
idea and make it into a reality.
With our full production and
development studio we will take your
project all the way from
script-to-screen.
Step
1: Writing the script.
Although many clients still want video
for the VCR, more and more of our
clients are asking to film video that
can be transferred to DVD.
Although the process is the same in
both instances, there is one big thing
to keep in mind when writing script
intended for DVDs as opposed to
VHS: DVDs may not always be
watched in a linear fashion. The
ability to skip through chapters on a
DVD makes it very possible that your
viewer may not start at the
beginning. Each chapter,
especially in an instructional or
sales video, should be laid out and
written as a stand-alone
feature. That way, if a viewer
is more interested in a particular
section, he will be able to skip to
that chapter and learn what he needs
without becoming confused.
When
creating the script here are a few
good questions to ask yourself:
- Who
is your target audience? Who
will be watching this and what
sorts of things will appeal to
them? And don't just
guess. Run some ideas by
some people in that target
audience, especially if it's an
audience foreign to
you.
- If
your viewer only learns one thing
from your video, what would you
like it to be? Your video
should have a central purpose or
theme. Sub-themes can also
be outlined, but don't get too
distracted.
- What
is the tone of the video? Do
you want it to be funny, serious,
sincere, instructional,
business-like or light-hearted?
- For
sales videos: If you
were the viewer, what would you
need to see and hear to convince
you to take action after seeing
the video? If you were to
sit down and watch the video would
you believe it and would you,
personally, buy the product or
service? If you wouldn't be convinced,
chances are your target audience
won't be either. It doesn't
hurt to do some market research
here if you are having trouble
distancing yourself from the
script. Run it by a small
population of your target
audience. Ask them:
What should I add or subtract from
this script to make it more
believable?
- For
instructional videos:
Will this make sense and be
informative for my entire range of
viewers? If you have both
novice and expert viewers, the
video must be both accessible to
beginners and interesting for
those already advanced in the
subject.
Step
2: Planning and
Pre-Production. This
is where Zitech Logic's video
production experience really
kicks-in. We can help you with
set design, props, costumes, acting
tips and script editing. This is
also the time when we sit down with
you to discuss what type of video tape
format will be best for your
production. We work with a
variety of tape formats from DVCAM to
S-VHS, BetaCam and Hi8. There
are a surprising number of rather
confusing video format choices.
By considering your budget, length of
production, and the required quality
of the video, we will help you to
determine what format will be best for
your film.
Step
3: Shooting the Video. An
organized video-shooting schedule is
created and the video footage is
shot.
Step
4: Post-Production.
The video is reviewed and edited.
The intro and credits are
created. Music and narration are
added. Any computer graphics and
animations are created and edited into
the film in the appropriate
places.
Step
5: Master Copy Creation and
Duplication. Once
the final edit has been approved, the
master copy is created and duplicates
are made onto VHS or transferred to
DVD as required.
