What
is involved in creating a DVD?
There's
a LOT involved in creating a
DVD. But put shortly, DVD
production involves six steps:
- Creation
of the original media that will be
converted to DVD. Often
this is in the form of VHS video. You may have this
video already, or we can film
it for you at our production
studio.
- The
video and sound are converted to
digital format appropriate for
DVDs.
- The
menus, extras, chapters, DVD-ROM
add-ons, and interactivity of the
DVD are created.
- The
DVD master copy is created on DLT
(Digital Linear Tape) or
DVD-R.
- DVD
cover art, case sleeves, box and
slide-in fliers are created.
- The
DVD is duplicated as needed.
How
much information can you fit on one
DVD?
This
depends on the bit rate (higher bit
rates allow for better image quality
but require more space) and the type
of DVD onto which the project will be
recorded. Certain types of DVDs
can hold four or more hours of video
at very high bit rates, but are more
expensive to produce.
How
long will it take to produce my DVD?
Obviously
the turnaround time varies
tremendously per project. If you
already have the video available,
however, and do not need extensive
extras you can expect small orders to
be ready in less than a week.
Same-day completion may be available
on certain projects for additional
cost.
Will
my DVD be compatible with computers,
Playstation and X-Box?
Your
DVD will be compatible with
Playstation2 and X-Box. Your DVD
will be playable by any computer with
the ability to read DVD-ROMs.
Will
you create my packaging as well as my
DVD?
Absolutely.
We can create the CD face design as
well as all inserts, box or cover art,
and CD sleeve graphics, layout or
text.
